Abstract:
More and more news broadcasts focus on critical problems proliferating in schools around the country�bullying, teachers having sex with students, and rapes and murders in schools. The mentality that something "could never happen to us" is being dispelled by headlines about kids dying on class trips, losing fingers in shop class, being hit by cars at poorly planned bus stops, and beating up their teachers.

Abstract:
Many districts now are in the situation where special education costs consume 30% to 40% of the district budget. Many of these district are poor districts with high rates of special education students. This article describes a process by which districts better see how special education dollars are spent. A working model of a structure that will guarantee work completion through accountability is presented.

Abstract:
Schools seem to have little control over the financial and human resources that are dedicated to special education. How can accountability be achieved? In this article the author describes a management consulting engagement that resulted in a board of education saving thousands of dollars by developing and managing an accountability system for child study team services.

Abstract:
This article reviews recent legislation and how that legislation effects compliance with student IEPs in regards to the equipment that can improve a student's ability to learn and interact with teachers, family, and friends. The article details the recommendation of devices and the school's responsibility in regards to their procurement, usage, and maintenance.
