Abstract:
The safety of children is of the utmost concern to school board members, administrators and teachers. Accidents do happen, of course, but you must do everything you can to make sure that the students in your care are not hurt. A lack of oversight on safety issues can cost districts millions of dollars in the damages awarded each year to families of children injured at school.

Abstract:
All 15-year-old Phoebe Prince wanted was to be liked. But after moving from Ireland to Massachusetts, it wasn’t long before Phoebe endured bullying from the “mean girls” at school. They stalked Phoebe, called her an “Irish whore,” and intimidated her relentlessly. In January, the mean girls followed Phoebe home and threw a Monster energy drink can at her. Phoebe kept walking — past the harassment, past the can, past the white picket fence, into her house. Then she walked into a closet and hanged herself.

Abstract:
School-sponsored all night graduation parties are growing in popularity as a way to keep students away from drugs and alcohol at other, non-supervised, events. However, 24 hours without sleep can impair a person the same way having a 0.10 BAC can. This article examines the precautions that administrators can take to avoid tragedies on graduation night.

Abstract:
This article explores common situations regarding sexual harassment in the school setting. It also discusses exploitation of sexual power either by teachers or by students in an inappropriate relationship. Schools and its employees have a duty to train their students on their sexual harassment policies and to report any inappropriate behavior.

Abstract:
The educator as a consulting and testifying expert has become one of the most important tools that an lawyer can use in the dispute resolution process involving schools. When the consultant becomes an expert witness the relationship changes. This article explains how the expert educator assesses merits of a case, and provides consultation to lawyers who are working on education and school related cases.
